No guarantee you will return: US rejects Indian student’s visa plea, cites no strong tie to home country

Indian student Kaushik Raj received a US visa rejection, despite a $100,000 Columbia scholarship, due to officials’ belief he lacked sufficient ties to India. The rejection letter said that an applicant has to demonstrate that they have a residence in a foreign country which they have no intention of abandoning.
