Antarctica’s vegetation cover has grown significantly, increasing from less than a square kilometre to nearly 12 square kilometres between 1986 and 2021. The accelerated greening, driven by climate change and reduced sea-ice extent, highlights the rapid and concerning transformation of the Antarctic Peninsula’s landscape, emphasizing the urgent need for further research and action to protect this vulnerable region.
