Encephalitis, Chandipura ruled out in Rajasthan’s Salumber after 7 kids die

Fears of a Japanese encephalitis outbreak in Rajasthan’s Salumber district have subsided as tests on 20 children returned negative. While seven child deaths occurred, investigations revealed malaria, diarrhea, and infections as likely causes, not the feared viruses. Health officials are addressing delayed treatment due to unqualified practitioners, launching awareness campaigns and anti-mosquito drives.
