Islamists warn Yunus, threaten Hasina-like treatment
In Bangladesh, Hefazat-e-Islam has cautioned chief adviser Muhammad Yunus against implementing the Women’s Affairs Reform Commission’s proposals, deeming them “anti-Islamic.” The group threatened Yunus with treatment similar to that of Sheikh Hasina if he proceeds. Khelafat Majlis echoed the sentiment, demanding the Commission’s abolition. Hefazat’s joint secretary general, Mamunul Haque, stated the proposals contradict Islamic law, sparking nationwide protests.
