Japan introduces blade-proof umbrellas on trains to enhance passenger safety

To bolster passenger safety, 1,200 blade-resistant umbrellas will be placed on 600 trains in Japan’s Kansai region. Introduced by JR West after recent knife attacks, these lightweight umbrellas have reinforced components to act as shields. They are practical for use in emergencies, offering protection and allowing passengers to evacuate safely.
